Miranda Canyon is a jewel of Taos. It contains natural resources such as pinion and hot springs. It contains cultural resources and is an important part of Taos County’s cultural history. The area is used for hiking, horseback rides and general breathtaking beauty.

Miranda Canyon has been used an illegal dumpsite for years and is blighted with trash, dumped cars, animal carcasses, household items such as washing machines, mattresses, and even hot tubs. It has also been used an area for poaching of plants and animals. Tires, needles, bullet casings and shotgun shells leach toxic chemicals into the soils and waters. The area needs more people to help it recover from this tragic misuse and contamination of the wild and natural beauty of Miranda Canyon.
